SERVICES
Family Therapy
I offer family therapy in the context of parenting support and coaching, family-based therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults with eating disorders, and structural family therapy for those in conflict, all from a strengths-based, attachment-informed, and trauma-responsive perspective.
I draw from an eclectic variety of therapy modalities for family therapy, including:
Structural Family Therapy
Emotion Focused Therapy
Attachment-Based Therapy
Family Based Therapy (FBT for families with children with eating disorders)
Trauma-Focused CBT (for families with children/adolescents who have experienced trauma)
Health at Every Size (HAES)/Intuitive Eating (IE)/Body Trust™
Humanistic Therapy
Intersectional Feminist Therapy
Queer Theory
Disability Justice
Fat Liberation
Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression
Relational Cultural Theory
As an inclusive therapy practice, I strive to cultivate a brave and welcoming space of connection and compassion. My practice is affirming of consensual non-monogamy, polyamory and kink, and individuals engaged in sex work. My practice is also affirming of the BIPOC community, families of all structures and origins, and individuals of any gender identity.
Wondering how to know if family therapy is for you?
YOU’RE A PARENT (OR PARENTS) STRUGGLING WITH PARENTING YOUR CHILD(REN)
Parenting is one of the most rewarding and most difficult jobs around! Parenting coaching and support therapy can help build on the parenting skills you already have.
YOUR FAMILY RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A BIG CHANGE
Major changes in a family system can cause disruption in even the healthiest families; family therapy can help all members be heard equally and assist the family in finding their new “normal.”
A MAJOR CONFLICT HAS YOUR FAMILY FEELING STUCK
Conflicts are common in family systems but can be difficult to resolve alone; family therapy can provide a brave and open space for communication and understanding.
LIMITATIONS
Family therapy is not appropriate in all settings. I screen families carefully to make sure that family therapy is indicated and won’t inadvertently cause a family member or the system as a whole to experience harm. I also do not work with romantic couples unless a couple in interested in parenting coaching. Please contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns about family therapy.
